Since she’s a solo practice surgeon, most of Dr. Baghai’s time is spent taking care of her patients or attending to the extensive demands of running a medical business. But in her “spare time,” she is a sports fanatic, avidly following professional basketball, football and hockey. On any given game night, there’s a good chance you may find her at Staples Center cheering on the LA Clippers, Lakers or Kings. She loves good food, good wine and international travel. She spent a year early in her career doing medical work in Africa, which is what initially inspired her to become a surgeon. She ultimately hopes to incorporate international surgical service into her current practice model.

“Unlike primary care providers, as a surgeon I typically meet my patients at a very stressful juncture in their lives. I have a brief opportunity during the initial encounter to reassure them and gain their trust to put their lives in my hands. This is a huge honor, responsibility and privilege that I take very seriously with every patient I meet. I subsequently cherish the close friendship that develops with my patients and their families as an aftermath of this intense trusting relationship.”
