“The Oracle”
                The mystical Himalayan kingdom of Tibet since long has a fascinating
tradition of Oracles, who had been sought for their guidance, healing and
protection by everyone from the Dalai Lama to the common man on streets.
Tibetan government and the elite sought their help on matters of national
importance, calamities, conflicts etc. While the common man reached out to
them for more personal maladies like health issues, family discords, success
in business, wellbeing of crops & cattle or anything they felt caught up with or
struggling. It's fascinating to see how this mystical tradition that evolved
centuries ago in high Himalayas has transformed into an institution that's
revered by one & all in the Tibetan-Buddhist region from the erstwhile
kingdom of Tibet to the current day bastions of Tibetan-Buddhism like
Ladakh, and other centres like Dharamshala, Bodh Gaya etc.
                    The presence and availability of
Oracles may vary in different regions but the
faith and reverence that the masses have for
the Oracle is fascinating. A good example is
the number of people who visit Dharamshala
every year to attend witness and seek
blessings of the Nechung Oracle, the State
Oracle of the Tibetan government in exile,
one whose insights are sought by the Dalai
Lama himself, on issues of national
i m p o r t a n c e c o n c e r n i n g t h e Ti b e t a n
government and it's people, who are
scattered around the globe as refugees. 
       An interesting story regarding the role of
Nechung Oracle in Tibet's history is of the
1959 Tibetan Uprising, when the Chinese forces were on the verge of
capturing the current Dalai Lama, then just 23 years of age. The Oracle in
said to have not just told  Dalai Lama to leave Tibet immediately that very
night but also gave him a map of the route to evade capture by the Chinese
troops enroute to India. 
       The Oracle, in normal usage refers to an individual who maybe a mystic,
psychic, shaman, or even divinely gifted layman who have the power not just
to look into the future & connect with other planes of Consciousness, but also
