Hence to prevent ourselves from falling ill, we need to follow Varsha ritu Paricharya described in Ayurveda. So lets see what is Varsha ritu Paricharya aka Monsoon Season Regimn? According to dosha imbalance status, ayurveda has advised some do's and don’ts ; Do's ( things to be followed ) • Food made from old grains like Red Rice, Jwar, Moong,(moong beans or green gram mash) Arhar dal (Pigeon peas) Vegetables like Lady finger (Okra), Pumkin, Suran (Yam). • Do include plenty of Garlic, Onion ,Ginger in dishes. Have black pepper, hing(asafoetida), mint leaves, coriander leaves, buttermilk, ghee (Clarified butter), saindhav, cumin seeds in our diet in order to help increase the digestive power. • In monsoon you can have hot vegetable soups, moong (moong beans) soup, or chicken or mutton soup to increase digestive power and to increase strength. • You can have herbal tea made from ginger, lil rock salt and pepper to ignite digestive fire. And to increase immunity. • Drink boiled water; boiled water is preferable during this season. It prevents us from catching any water born disease & also it maintains normal digestive power. • Prefer hot showers over cold showers to prevent vata vitiation. • Always add ghee or oil in your diet to balance vitiated vata dosha, and to prevent problems like bloating, constipation, joint pain which are very common during rainy season.
