level of reincarnation to another. The passage of time in human terms is, to
the soul, irrelevant.
The soul’s journey is really a process of evolution. It can be compared to
the stages of metamorphosis we see in nature, such as egg, caterpillar,
chrysalis, and butterfly. In reincarnation, though, along with changes in the
physical, i.e. a new body, there are also changes and growth in the mode of
consciousness and self-awareness. Some might also liken it to Darwin’s
theory of evolution we all learned back in High School (albeit on a spiritual
as opposed to a biological level). So rather than evolving physically, for the
soul it means growing in consciousness - steadily progressing through
different levels or stages of consciousness via our incarnations in physical
form.
So, to recapitulate, all souls are on a mission to evolve, grow and
develop through
their own experiences,
efforts and
choices. To evolve as a
soul is to become
increasingly self-aware
and self-capable
as a unique expression
of Spirit.
By evolving,
the soul changes in its
level
of
beingness
and
consciousness,
from
new-born
innocence to
greater and greater
levels of love,
power and wisdom. In
effect, after eons of evolution that which is created re-joins the Creator.
We’ve seen how the soul progresses through various levels of evolution,
namely Infant, Baby, Young, Mature and Old. And now, dear reader, this
series has “evolved”, if you will, to its final installment.
The Last Stage Coach to Eternity
At last, the soul is ready for the final leg of the journey: the return to unity,
the end of reincarnation and a reuniting with the greater consciousness.
This return to unity does not involve any loss of individuality, as some might
imagine. The end of reincarnation, “ascension” or “enlightenment”, or
whatever you wish to call it, doesn’t mean fading out of existence,
