INTERVIEW
GUNILLA HAMNE
1.How you became a Healer or TTT practitioner?
At one point in life, I was working internationally as a journalist and
filmmaker with focus on environmental issues and human rights. I came to
visit many places and interviewed people who had been traumatised by
war, genocide and natural disasters.
I did not feel comfortable. Something was missing, but I didn’t know what.
My turning point was in the shade under a mango tree with Ahok, a 12 year
old Dinka girl in Marial Bai, a village-like town in what is now South Sudan.
It was in 2003 and the liberation war with the north part of Sudan was still
going on. Ahok was telling me how she was abducted when she was eight
years old and the village was attacked by the militia from the north of the
country. They came on horses, burned, looted, killed and forced her and
other children and women to go with them to be used as slaves. She was a
slave for three years until she was finally rescued.
