What’s Happening Now
Thank you to our Chat Room Moderators!
As part of our outreach to those with headaches, as well
as their families, in 2012, we implemented the use of
online conferencing in order to host question and answer
sessions or “chat rooms,” where patients can sign on and
speak to a physician who is an expert in a certain area of
care. During the chat room, participants can direct any
questions about the headache topic being covered that
evening. The questions are submitted through a moderator, who then organizes and asks the questions live for
a better recordable format. The audio Q&A is later
placed into podcast format by our staff, and uploaded
to YouTube where anyone can then listen to the event, in
perpetuity.
The physician hosts are invited to lead these 1-to-2
hour Q&A sessions based on their expertise in areas such
as chronic migraine, post-concussion headache, cluster
headache, pediatric headache, tension-type headache, etc.
These sessions have provided a valuable service to our
constituency, as evidenced by the responses that we have
received following the chatrooms, and the ever increasing
number of viewers on YouTube. Typically, we host two
chat rooms per month and four are presented during
Migraine and Headache Awareness Month. Not only are
these sessions reaching a large audience, through day-of
participation and thereafter podcast viewing, but we are
reaching an underserved audience who sometimes lack
traditional access to information and advice.
We would like to thank the physicians and health care practitioners who led chatrooms during 2013:
