Be sure to check out page 34 for pictures from the event. We honored our Outstanding Lawyer Award winner Amy Farrior (see page 10 for more details), the YLD award winners (see page 8) and remembered the Honorable Tracy Sheehan (See page 12). Our speaker, Sherry Williams, laid out a fantastic challenge to all attendees to commit to diversity every day, and in truly meaningful ways. And that, of course, requires much more than thinking about diversity and inclusion only during a special celebratory month. Ms. Williams encouraged attendees to recognize that diversity and inclusion are not the same thing. Diversity is merely the entry point for creating equality, but true inclusion is critical to successfully building the next generation of lawyers and leaders. But how? One of the best ways more senior members of the profession can ensure not just diversity but inclusion is to act as true sponsors to younger lawyers.
