marital & family law appeals. I’ ve lived in Tampa for 15 years and I still don’ t know where anything is. And I can beat both the“ Wacky Wizard Wire” and the“ Bottle Up” games at the fair.
Moving on. What I’ ve always liked most about Lawyer magazine is the diversity of topics in every issue. To me, the perfect article is one that appeals to lawyers who are experts in a given area and to outsiders alike. To the extent any future author cares what I think, I would ask that they choose their subjects and write their articles with this goal in mind.
At the same time, my hope is that you, the readers, will actually read the magazine. As fun as it is to just flip to your Section’ s article hoping a colleague you despise wrote something you can make fun of, I promise you will get more out of the magazine if you actually spend some time with it.
To that point, while this issue of the magazine consists of mostly introductory articles, there are a few excellent pieces I recommend reading. The Labor & Employment Law Section’ s article, for example, gives a quick but fascinating overview of how the practice of law evolved in early America, and the Technology Law Section’ s article provides another horrifying look into our AI-dominated future / present.
Again, though, I hope you’ ll read the entire magazine and, even more so, I hope you’ ll find it a worthwhile experience. As for me, apparently I’ ll need to come up with something to say for each edition of the magazine for as long as an editor’ s tenure is. Wish me luck! n
