be afraid to ask for one. One of my biggest regrets in my career is not asking for mentorship early when I really could have used it. If you are a more experienced attorney, volunteer your time and talents in leadership and in mentoring. Growing the next generation of ethical, smart, competent attorneys is up to each of us and to all of us.
Finally, don’ t be afraid to think big and act big. Over the past four years, this magazine has been full of stories of individual attorneys or small groups who have gotten together to make a huge positive impact on our community, whether it is through expungement clinics, community education, charitable giving, or the dozens of other ways in which HCBA members give back to their communities. These individual acts taken together have created amazing events, like the annual Judicial Food Festival and 5K Pro Bono River Run, where hundreds of pro bono hours are pledged each year to improve our community.
Again, serving as your Editor has been an honor. I have learned so much from our subject area committees. Please join them and participate. The CLEs alone are worth it. I have learned even more from our Bar leaders and the attorneys and community members who have stepped up over the past four years to make such an impact on our community. I hope that we did you justice in covering it. The magazine is in good hands with your next Editor, Mark Baseman. Thank you. n
