The HCBA Bar Leadership Institute has had an exciting year. This year’ s class got to engage in monthly modules with various leaders and organizations throughout Tampa Bay. Two visits stood out and raised compelling themes worth reflecting on: first, a visit with the City of Tampa Office of Emergency Management, and later, a visit with Tampa Fire Rescue.
Tampa’ s Office of Emergency Management leads the city in emergency planning, mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery for major natural and humancaused disasters. The office was exceptionally calm the day the class visited— but that’ s not always the case. The centerpiece of the facility is a situation room lined
