The idea for the Chamber Chat series began in July 2024, during my time as President-Elect, when I attended The Florida Bar’ s Voluntary Bar Leaders Conference. During one of the sessions, I heard leaders from other circuits discuss programs designed to foster candid, smallgroup conversations between young lawyers and members of the judiciary. What struck me most was not the formality of those programs, but their purpose: rebuilding connection, professionalism, and trust in a profession that increasingly operates at arm’ s length.
When I returned to Hillsborough County, I began thinking about how to bring a similar concept to our local bar in a way that felt authentic and sustainable. The opportunity crystallized when Judge Caroline Tesche Arkin shared her interest in having more direct conversations with young lawyers about professionalism and courtroom expectations. From that conversation, the Chamber Chat series was born.
