i am heartened that the members of the bar in hillsborough County have access to the resources we do and that we have leadership willing to facilitate these conversations.
Although I have fully adopted Tampa as my forever home, coming originally from Kentucky where we can get feet of snow in the winter, scorching hot summers, and tornadoes in between, winter in Florida is constantly a learning experience. What struck me with this year’ s extended and deep cold spell was how the community came together both to offer help, maybe a warm meal, maybe some heat, and to enjoy the alien prospect of potential snow. It was such a wonderful experience, seeing my friends and neighbors rally to help those who needed relief from the cold, while at the same time getting excited about the possibility of seeing one or two flakes! Seeing a community come together for the magic of“ possibility” made me feel like a kid again, opening the drapes first thing in the morning, hoping to see a winter wonderland.
