Wilson took senior status on New Year’ s Eve, 2 and since then, Judge Embry Kidd has joined the court on active service. On the Second District Court of Appeal, Judge Matthew Lucas was unanimously elected Chief Judge, beginning a two-year term on July 1, and Judge Anne-Leigh Gaylord Moe was appointed to fill the vacancy created by Judge Darryl Casanueva’ s retirement. Judge Moe has since been nominated to our federal Middle District. If confirmed to that court promptly, as expected, Judge Moe’ s tenure on the Second District would be the shortest since at least the 1980s. 3 Finally, the Second District Court of Appeal expects to have moved into its new courthouse and be opened to the public by the end of this calendar year.
Since I cannot improve on last issue’ s preview of this year, I’ ll simply sign off,“ Stay tuned.” n
