The immigration compliance climate is challenging. The rules are changing at breakneck speed, resulting in uncertainty for individuals and employers. This article will focus on the changes and legal challenges to the federal Parole and Temporary Protected Status programs.
Humanitarian Parole
The humanitarian parole program was put into place by President Biden and provided a legal route for individuals in countries facing economic and humanitarian crises to come to the United States. The program was aimed at reducing the number of immigrants attempting to cross the southwest border without authorization.
On March 25, 2025, the program was terminated for nationals of Cuba, Haiti, nicaragua, and Venezuela( CHnV). This announcement terminated all CHnV parole and employment authorizations effective April 24, 2025— regardless of expiration date. continuedonpage49
