Trade Work, and private white-collar practice, including criminal and regulatory work. Gunster also had special guest Maria Chapa-Lopez, former U. S. Attorney for the Middle District of Florida, present on federal maritime issues. On Wednesday evening, there was a function at Armature Works’ rooftop and a Water Pirate taxi tour.
Thursday was“ Federal Courthouse Day.” Our French visitors spent the day at the federal courthouse in Tampa learning the difference between federal and state law. A lunch presentation was provided by the Tampa Federalist Society. Federal court observation was provided by Virgina Covington, Senior District Judge for the Middle District of Florida. Thursday evening began at Stetson University College of Law, Tampa Campus, with an early evening reception and presentation about the law school by Professor Christine Cerniglia. Then it was time to relocate to the Tampa Aquarium to attend the Stetson Law Student Bar & Alumni Association rooftop evening reception.
Friday morning consisted of a tour of the Port of Tampa on the Yacht Starship hosted by Charles Klug, Chief Legal Officer for the Port of Tampa Bay. Friday afternoon was free time for our French visitors, who went shopping at Channelside and enjoyed the beaches in St. Petersburg.
