can only be filed by a one of the following persons : the dependent adult child , the agent of the dependent adult child under a durable power of attorney , a parent or other person on behalf of the dependent adult child , or the dependent adult child ’ s guardian or guardian advocate as appointed under chapter 744 or 393 of the Florida statutes . 10
Support for a dependent adult child is not payable to one of the parents like child support . Rather it is payable to the dependent adult child , a court-appointed guardian or guardian advocate , or an agent under a durable power of attorney . 11 If the dependent adult child qualifies for meansbased government benefits , the court may irrevocably assign the support to a special needs trust under 42 U . S . C . § 1396p ( d )( 4 )( A ) or to a pooled trust under 42 U . S . C . § 1396p ( d )( 4 )( C ). 12 n
