A long-time member of the HCBA , Harris has served as chair of the HCBA ’ s Marital & Family Law Section and as a member of its executive council . She was a founding member of the Stann givens Family Law Inn of Court , and she played a pivotal role in the growth of the Tampa Bay Collaborative Professionals . Her many contributions to collaborative law were recognized in 2022 with the organization ’ s “ Heart and Soul ” Award .
Harris ’ s commitment to service extends beyond the legal field . She has generously dedicated her time and expertise to numerous local nonprofit boards , including Academy Prep , Tampa Theater , United Way , the Morean Ars Center , and The Phoenix Tampa .
In his remarks , Hunt highlighted Harris ’ s inspiring personal drive by recalling her climb to Mount Everest ’ s base camp ( 17,500 feet ), which she used to raise over $ 17,500 for Academy Prep . “ She ’ s taken on each challenge with incredible determination , even after major neck surgery ,” Hunt said , emphasizing her resilience . Hunt summed up Harris ’ s legacy with a heartfelt comment : “ Nancy may be five foot two , but she ’ s a giant .”
In accepting the award , Harris reflected on her career practicing family law , and she thanked her colleagues for their unwavering support over the years . “ Thank you for this tremendous honor ,” she told the crowd .
Also at the membership luncheon , the YLd presented its annual outstanding lawyer awards . The 2024 award winners :
