Beyond her legal acumen , Rebecca is deeply committed to the community . She has been a dedicated HCBA member since 2015 , serving as a member and co-chair of YLd committees , most recently leading the Professionalism and Ethics Committee . She also currently serves as Chair of HCBA ’ s Health Care Law Section .
Her impact extends well beyond the legal profession . Rebecca is actively involved in the Tampa Bay Chamber of Commerce and has held leadership positions in both the American Cancer Society and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society . Through her unwavering commitment to service , she continues to make a lasting impact on both the legal and broader community .
Outstanding Government / Non-Profit Attorney Award : Briana Zupko
The outstanding govern ment / Non-Profit Attorney Award recognizes an outstanding record of service by a young government , public sector , or non-profit attorney who has aspired to achieve the highest standard of professional conduct , competence , and preeminent public service . This year ’ s recipient , Briana Zupko , has devoted her legal career to criminal justice .
Briana served for over six years as an Assistant State Attorney in the 13th Judicial Circuit , where she managed an extensive caseload of approximately 80 cases involving sexual offenses and crimes against children . As a lead trial attorney , she prosecuted over 40 jury trials , ranging from simple misdemeanors to capital sexual battery . She now continues her impactful work as an Assistant Statewide Prosecutor at the office of Statewide Prosecution .
In addition to her legal contributions , Briana is an active leader serving on the HCBA YLd Board of directors after serving as a member and chair of the YLd Social Events committee for many years . She also served as a dedicated mentor , giving back to the community through the Hillsborough County Education Foundation ’ s Take Stock in Children Program .
We look forward to celebrating another esteemed honoree at the upcoming HCBA Law day Member Luncheon in May , where the Robert W . Patton outstanding Jurist Award will be presented . We hope to see you there ! n
