As the president of the Hillsborough County Bar Association , I ’ ve been reflecting on the state of our nation and our legal community . The recent election has been a stark reminder of the divisions in our country , yet it also provides an opportunity — an opportunity to grow , to coalesce , and to move forward together .
Whether or not you voted for President-elect Donald Trump , the election is behind us , and the next four years are in front of us . It ’ s a chance to reset , to focus on what unites us rather than what divides us . As legal professionals , we are uniquely positioned to lead by example , showing how people with differing opinions can still work toward common goals .
The past few years have not been easy . The country has faced challenges that have tested our resolve and fractured relationships , both personally and professionally . Within the legal community , these divisions may have surfaced in ways that hindered collaboration .
