voluntary bar associations and finding a mentor . Often the two can go hand in hand , with attorneys finding mentors among their peers . Mentors who are outside of your firm can provide a solid sounding board for young attorneys with unbiased and objective advice .
Moving on to some of the Section articles , I would commend to you the Appellate Practice Section ’ s article on a rare en banc argument before the Fifth District Court of Appeal .
If you are a young lawyer who is looking to connect with other young lawyers , as recommended by Mr . Bevil , I encourage you to check out the excellent article from the Bar Leadership Institute ’ s current class . The article gives an overview of some of the exciting activities and modules in which the class members participate . For me , participating in the Bar Leadership Institute was one of the most interesting things I have done as an attorney in Hillsborough County .
The Construction Law Section has a very informative article on legislation recently passed by the Florida ’ s
House and Senate that could have a large impact on contractor licensing throughout the State .
Morgan Newcomb , a legal advisor with the Tampa Police Department , continues the Government Lawyers Section ’ s “ Day in the Life ” series . If you have not had the chance to read all of these , I encourage you to check out the archives . They are a fascinating look into the daily work lives of attorneys who are striving every day to enhance the public good . The articles also offer insights to young attorneys or law students who want more detail about what is involved in being an attorney for the many government entities through the region .
Personally , I loved seeing the photos from the Judicial Food Festival and Pro Bono River Run . I missed it this year , but the photos really show what a fun , eclectic event it is .
And last , but certainly not least , I would like to congratulate the Hillsborough County Clerk of Court and Comptroller ’ s Office for being recognized as a top workplace !
