Iput a new bilingual pay incentive policy into effect organizationwide in mid-September , just as we wrapped-up National Hispanic Heritage Month . I decided to incentivize bilingual employees for their valuable skills and to make sure all of our customers are being served in an equitable way .

According to the policy , employees who speak a fluent , non-English language are considered for compensation if they have “ frequent contact with the public and interact with residents or customers who require language assistance on a regular basis .”
