Welcome! We are
excited to introduce
you to the HCBA’s
new Technology
Section. Even if you are a relatively
new lawyer, you probably will agree
that the use of and reliance on
technology is perhaps the most
significant change that has occurred
over the last several years in the
way attorneys practice law. This
new Section will be devoted to
assisting and educating lawyers
regarding the impact of technology
on their practices.
For the most part, technological
advances have been beneficial for
lawyers. Documents can be
produced, modified, and stored
electronically, greatly reducing the
need for paper files and associated
storage space. Evolving e-discovery
techniques allow lawyers to perform
electronic data searches, conduct
metadata analysis, and review
and produce large volumes of
documents during discovery much
more efficiently than was previously
possible with paper document
productions. Legal research can be
performed electronically through
