When driving your children to school, please drop them off on Hawthorne Avenue only-- do not drop students off on Lucy Avenue or Fycke Lane. Please cooperate in our efforts to maintain a safe and orderly environment for all of our students by not walking your child( ren) directly to their class. Children learn quickly where their class is located and how to navigate throughout the building to get to their classrooms. We have many adults and Safety Patrol members in the building to insure students‘ safety along the way. Adding parents, etc. to that number creates crowded conditions and hampers our ability to effectively supervise the children and maintain safe conditions. Please say good-bye at the doors to the building and wish your child a great day. Our goal is to provide all of our children with a safe and secure environment as they wait for their teacher to invite them into the classroom at 8:30. Therefore we ask that parents say good-bye at the doors and allow the students to enter and walk by themselves to their individual lines under the watchful eyes of the morning supervisors. We ask that you respect our requests and allow us to provide a safe and orderly morning procedure so that your child can begin each day in an uncrowded, quiet, and safe environment. If you experience separation difficulties with your child, we encourage you to call the guidance counselor. She will arrange to meet you to assist in the separation process.
DISMISSAL
� Students are dismissed between 2:58 and 3:00 p. m. at the Hawthorne Avenue exit. � Bus riders meet their buses on Lucy Avenue. � No child may be picked up in the office after 2:45 p. m.
DROP-OFF & PICK-UP PROCEDURE
To ensure everyone‘ s safety, please review the procedure for dropping-off and picking-up students at school each day:
� The only place students may be dropped-off between 8:15 a. m. and 8:30 a. m. and picked-up at 3:00 p. m. is on Hawthorne Avenue( by the media center entrance).
� You can access Hawthorne Avenue from Glenwood Avenue. All cars should form a single line along the yellow curb on the right-hand side of the street.
� Please follow the teacher‘ s direction to move all the way up before dropping-off your child.
� Similarly, at dismissal the teacher will call your child to enter your car once you are at the front of the line. If everyone follows these directions, it makes the process move much more quickly.
� Please do not park on Hawthorne Avenue and walk your child across the street. This causes additional congestion and is dangerous with so many cars moving through the street.
� Also, please do not cut through the teacher parking lot to avoid waiting in the line.
