CLASSROOM VISITS
Hawthorne School has established the following observation guidelines in an effort to maintain
uninterrupted instruction and to protect confidentiality of our students.
Parents must first contact the teacher and request that a professional observation be
scheduled in the classroom.
The classroom teacher will suggest two times for observation. An administrator or
designee may be present throughout the observation.
Classroom observations are limited to 20 minutes or less.
Observation will be confirmed by classroom teacher, administrator and professional.
On the day of the observation, the professional visitor must sign in at the office before
visiting the classroom, obtain a visitor‘s badge, obtain an observation form and be
escorted by the administrator/designee.
Please be prompt, as tardiness, will impact the scheduled observation time.
Professionals will remain seated in the back of the room. Observers may not engage in
conversation with the teacher or students during the observation.
At the close of the observation, the professional will return to the school office to sign
out/return badge and observation form.
