ow sh time kidsofOz Norma Needham has started a charity to help the “KidsOfOz” and it is a not for profit company which she established last year as a charity for the benefit of Australian children. Last August Norma held a Masqerade Ball at Doltone House, Jones Bay Wharf to raise funds for the purchase of a new Ultrasound machine for Tennant Creek Hospital. “The Ball was very successful and we were able to provide the Ultrasound machine with the Probes and 5 year warranty for the Hospital” Norma said. Tennant Creek is approximatley five hundred kilometers North of Alice Springs (the nearest Hospital) and services a large area of the Territory which is approximatley 50% indigenous. This year I am again trying to assist Tennant Creek Hospital to equip their operating theatre, which is not being used because of the lack of equipment. The General Manager of Tennant Creek Hospital, Dr Sam Goodwin said “That a fully equipped operating theatre would save many lives and reduce the need for emergency transfers to Alice Springs using the Flying Doctor Service.” He also said that staff was not a problem, just the lack of money for the equipment. Norma is organising another fundraising Ball, and this year it will be held at Waterview in Bicentennial Park on Saturday 13th June 2015. Wa FW'f
