What’ s On, When And Where

On the June Long weekend nestled along the river and steeped in history, Windsor showcases local artisans, The Windsor Experience Community Connections, the perfect stage for celebration of the largest gas lamp network in the Southern hemisphere. We will be presenting nostalgia in motion, as the horse and carriage winds through Thompson Square with evening light haze over the iconic gas lamps.
FRIDAY
5TH JUNE
6. OOpm – 9.00pm Turn back Time
Friday 5th June 6pm to 9pm Canapes under the stars. This is a ticketed event limited to 100 people. Tickets are available at www. guystuff. com. au or call us on 0432 250 076. Closing date for ticket sales is Monday 25th May for catering purposes. This is a non-alcoholic event. Local eateries will be providing their finest cuisines to showcase their businesses, and non-alcoholic Mocktails, bubbly and beers will be a part of the ticketed price of $ 50 a head. Hosted by Simon’ s café in their heated Alfresco area. There will be no alcohol served.
SATURDAY 6TH JUNE
2.30pm – 9.00pm Visit the Past & Travel back in Time
WINDSOR MALL ROTUNDA
2.30PM- 9.00PM Live music in the Rotunda within the Windsor Mall, George Street Cracked Cats and Bush Ballads Bands Come and vote for your favourite artists with prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd.
WINDSOR ROTARY CLUB
2.30PM- 9.00PM Windsor Rotary Club will have a sausage sizzle from 2.30pm
THE JEREMIAH PROJECT The Jeremiah Project will have a food stall serving Arabic food raising funds for the Bunker. Please support Rotary and Jeremiah who give so much to the Community.
THE SHOPS, STALLS & EXHIBITS Shops will be open into the evening, an opportunity to support them, have a look at their window displays and assist them to build their economy. A night market will be set up in the Mall from 3pm till 8.30pm. Local honey, local artisans, and much more, something for all ages.
HORSE AND CARRIAGE RIDES FROM 2.30PM Nostalgic horse and carriage rides will begin at 2.30pm around the Thompson Square, step back in time and allow the Clydesdale horses take you on a leisurely journey throughout the Square, relax while on board and soak up the ambiance of Windsor’ s rich history. The carriage holds 10 people and will continue the rides into the evening.
LIVE ENTERTAINMENT Cracked Cats and Bush Ballad Bands. Harp player. Governor Macquarie Memorial Pipe Band in parade only
WATCH THE FESTIVAL PARADE 6.00PM The Parade will be assembling at 5.45pm and commencing at 6pm trough Thompson Square and up into the heart of Windsor Mall. All visitors are welcome to don on their finest colonial attire and join in the parade with prizes for the best four dressed, sponsored by The Windsor Experience group. Some highlights in the parade will the Town Crier, A full Bag pipe band, 3 gasketeers with flaming torches, bonnets, and waistcoats or just a hint of vintage flair. Please join us within the parade. The parade will finish at the Rotunda in the heart of Windsor Mall, where the Official ceremony will begin.
THE OFFICIAL CEREMONY 6.40PM The official ceremony will start at time 6.40pm, where there will be Councillor’ s, State and Federal members, the music will cease at this time giving Cracked Cats and other musicians a well-earned break, an opportunity to support the food stalls. The merriment will draw to a close at 9pm, when Windsor will once again become the sleepy hollow, beneath the flicker of the gas lamps!
