LEST WE FORGET. REMEMBRAN
Recognising and commemorating all Veterans
with Susan Templeman MP Federal Member for Macquarie
On Remembrance Day, at 11am of the 11th day of the 11th month, we mark the end of the First World War and remember all those who died or suffered defending Australia in wars and conflicts.
Like so many Australians, my grandfathers both served in World War One and I pause to think about their service and the impacts of war in all arenas across the generations.
There are many Veterans living in the Hawkesbury, and November 11 is a day to remember their service too.
This year, the Hawkesbury Veteran and Family Hub opened at their temporary location at Windsor RSL in South Windsor. Their permanent home in Richmond is being renovated, thanks to federal funding.
It’ s a practical way to support and honour Veterans and Defence personnel and their families’ contribution. Already the Hub has a wide variety of programs underway including a yoga class, a book club, plus their very popular Guitars for Veterans groups facilitated by Noro Music have run throughout October.
This is on top of helping with DVA claims and advocacy, financial support, housing and homelessness support, wellbeing and employment assistance.
You can pop in for a cuppa and a chat any weekday from 9am to 5pm.
The Australian Government is committed to recognising and commemorating all Veterans and their families, both past and present, and I extend my gratitude to all Defence Force members in our community and their families for what they do.
We must never forget the sacrifices of those who serve, nor the Australians who made the ultimate sacrifice protecting and defending our country.
Lest we forget.
