Once again, the annual State Gem and Mineral Show returns to your local area- an unmissable event for enthusiasts and curious visitors alike.
This gem, mineral, jewellery and crystal show is the most comprehensive of its kind in the country, offering an extraordinary range of natural wonders and handmade creations. Organised and operated by the Gem & Lapidary Council of NSW Inc.- a not-for-profit organisation run entirely by dedicated volunteers- the event brings together passionate experts and traders from across Australia. A showcase like no other The indoor section of the show will be held in the Phillip Charley Exhibition Hall at the Hawkesbury Showground, filled with 38 indoor traders representing every state and territory except the Northern Territory.
Outdoors, you’ ll find a vibrant mix of genuine fossickers who have sourced their own materials directly from the field.

Expect to see everything from boulder opal, crystal opal and sapphires to agate, polished stones and raw specimens of all kinds- along with a stunning variety of crystals. Something for everyone One of the show’ s standout attractions is the display of fluorescent minerals, which glow under ultraviolet light. With torches on hand and items available for purchase, this unique feature is sure to fascinate visitors of all ages- especially children.
Throughout the event, you’ ll have the opportunity to chat directly with experienced“ rock hounds” and fossickers. These passionate individuals are eager to share stories, knowledge, and insights into their craft, making it a wonderful learning opportunity for anyone curious about gems and minerals.

Many of the traders create their own

jewellery and decorative items, providing an ideal opportunity to find that one-of-akind gift or keepsake. From wire-wrapped polished stones and air plants on rocks to dichroic glass creations, the selection is both extensive and distinctive.
This year’ s show also features 12 lapidary clubs from across New South Wales, each showcasing and selling handcrafted pieces made by club members. The Glen Innes club will be selling sample bags of wash and hosting a fossicking area- offering visitors, especially children, the chance to try their luck and possibly take home a genuine Australian sapphire.

You’ ll find a dazzling array of cut and set stones, both natural and man-made, including sapphires, citrine, garnet, quartz, tourmaline, topaz, Persian turquoise, amethyst, amber, crystals and fossils. As far as jewellery is concerned,

Don’ t miss the GEMKHANA Competition
A highlight of the show is the GEMKHANA Competition- an exclusive showcase of the skills and creativity of lapidary club members. Divided into four levels( Open, Intermediate, Novice and Junior), this competition presents incredible handcrafted items you won’ t see anywhere else.
