Community Spirit Shines Bright at Windsor RSL’ s Supertee Event for Hawkesbury Kids

Windsor RSL recently opened its doors and hearts for a powerful community initiative, the Super tee community packing event, uniting people across the Hawkesbury in a shared mission to bring comfort and courage to children facing serious illness.
The event saw volunteers gather to assemble and pack superhero, ballerina, and space-themed medical garments designed by Australian charity Supertee. These innovative tops aren’ t just fun and colourful; they’ re designed to make medical treatment easier while giving young patients a muchneeded sense of strength and hope. Supertee is an Australian charity that creates innovative medical garments for children undergoing hospital treatment. These specially designed tops make it easier for nurses and doctors to provide care while giving kids a sense of bravery and hope. More than just a piece of clothing, each Supertee is a symbol of courage, transforming a clinical hospital stay into something a little more human, a little more heroic.
Thanks to funding of $ 20,000 from Windsor RSL’ s ClubGRANTS program, 384 Supertee boxes were donated to Hawkesbury Hospital. Each box was filled not only with
a specialised medical garment, but with a heartfelt message of encouragement from the community, a reminder that even during difficult times, these kids are not alone.
The atmosphere on packing day was nothing short of inspiring. Staff and management from Windsor RSL worked side by side with volunteers from the Windsor Subbranch, Windsor Auxiliary, RSL LifeCare, The Jeremiah Project, members of The Windsor Experience Action Group, and the Hawkesbury Independent. The energy in the room was filled with purpose, compassion, and a shared desire to give back.
Every garment folded and box sealed was an act of care, and everyone involved understood the difference their efforts could make in a child’ s hospital journey. The spirit of community was tangible, laughter and teamwork echoing through the club as strangers became teammates, united by kindness.
More than just a single day of giving, the event was a shining example of the Hawkesbury community at its best, connected, generous, and deeply supportive. Windsor RSL’ s leadership and ongoing dedication to local causes continues to show how powerful it is
when organisations lead with heart. In a world that often moves too fast, events like these remind us
what really matters, community, compassion, and the joy of lifting others up when they need it most.
