The NSW Government, in collaboration with Hawkesbury City Council, has secured a site for the new Hawkesbury Fire Control Centre, with design work now nearing completion.
Demonstrating its commitment to the safety and resilience of the Hawkesbury region, the NSW Government is progressing plans for the facility, which will be located in Wilberforce.
Minister for Emergency Services, Jihad Dib, and Federal Member for Macquarie, Susan Templeman, recently visited the site, situated at the corner of Kurmond and McKinnons Roads.
The new NSW Rural Fire Service Fire Control Centre will also house a colocated Emergency Operations Centre and a NSW State Emergency Service( SES) unit base, forming part of the wider Hawkesbury Emergency Services Precinct.
This $ 16.5 million project reflects the NSW Government’ s ongoing investment in critical infrastructure for regional and outer-metropolitan communities.
The purpose-built centre will unite emergency management experts, enable faster coordination, and enhance frontline capabilities across the region.
Construction of the new Fire Control Centre is expected to commence following the completion of the necessary approvals and tender process. Once operational, it will serve the Hawkesbury community for decades to come.
NSW Minister for Emergency Services, Jihad Dib, said:
“ This new Fire Control Centre will provide the tools, infrastructure, and technology needed to coordinate emergency operations and protect lives and property in a region that has faced multiple natural disasters in recent years.
Most importantly, it reflects our government’ s unwavering commitment to supporting the volunteers and professionals who work tirelessly to keep our communities safe.”
Federal Member for Macquarie, Susan Templeman, added:
“ I am proud that my 2022 election commitments—$ 1.1 million for the Hawkesbury SES and $ 300,000 for the NSW RFS Hawkesbury Control Centre— will help bring this vital precinct to life.
Hawkesbury residents have endured repeated and devastating bushfires and floods in recent years.
This precinct will serve as a hub for preparation and resilience, ensuring our emergency services are ready to act quickly, effectively, and safely when the next emergency strikes.
Additionally, individual brigades are making excellent use of their $ 50,000 grants, also part of my 2022 commitments, to support the crucial work they undertake.”
NSW Rural Fire Service Deputy Commissioner, Peter McKechnie, said:
“ This project represents a significant investment in the region’ s emergency response capabilities and a strong endorsement of our dedicated volunteers and emergency service personnel.
Our members give their all to serve the community, and this facility will ensure they have the best possible environment in which to continue their vital work.”
