LOCAL LIFE

Youth Fest 2025 is fun and free!

Louise and Luke Ommundson have hit on a winner with their spectacular sculptural wood panels which have been marketed, not only throughout the country, but overseas as well. Photo: Kathryn Johnston
the 5-axis CNC router, Luke has realised his dream of establishing Australia’ s most reliable and technologically advanced solid timber manufacturing workshop.
His goal now? To leave a legacy of skilled craftsmen as passionate about the craft as he is. In fact, many of Evostyle’ s staff are former apprentices trained by Luke himself.
Supporting the Ommundsons are their trusted lieutenants: Ben Cooper, the firm’ s designer-maker, and Ben Griffiths, head cabinetmaker and production manager.
Ben Cooper, a cabinetmaker by trade, is not only a skilled craftsman but also a
thoughtful designer. He blends hands-on expertise with a considered approach to design, producing true wooden masterpieces.
Ben Griffiths also began as an apprentice under Luke’ s guidance. Today, he’ s the firm’ s chief cabinetmaker, known for his problem-solving prowess, complex builds, and meticulous eye for detail— ensuring all Evostyle products meet rigorous quality assurance standards.
And so, from little things— an off-cut here, a seed of an idea there— big things have indeed grown.
Hawkesbury Youth Fest is back next month – with music, activities, information, lots of food and even a chill-out zone.
Youth Fest provides an evening of Friday festival vibes for pre-teens, teens and young adults aged from 12 to 24 as part of NSW Youth Week.
Richmond Oval will be transformed as young local musicians showcase their talents on stage and compere the event.
Festivalgoers can grab a bite, dance, chillout or discover more about the Hawkesbury’ s many community services that are here to support them.
They include Platform Youth Services, North Richmond Youth Project, Merana Aboriginal Community Association, TAFE NSW, Hawkesbury Community Outreach Service, Hart Youth, Gamble Aware, NSW Police and NSW Family Planning.
Youth Fest 2025 is proudly sponsored by Hawkesbury City Council and the NSW Department of Communities and Justice.
The 2025 Youth Week theme, as developed by the Youth Advisory Council, is We are the future, and the future is now! Young people are invited to celebrate the theme by sharing who they are, their skills, qualities, something they are proud of, or something they are passionate about on Instagram @ youthweeknsw.
