OUT & ABOUT

Model Railway Exhibition rolls into the Hawkesbury Race Club

The Hills Model Railway Society Inc. is proud to present its 41st annual exhibition at an exciting new venue – the Hawkesbury Race Club in Clarendon.
The event will be open to the public from 9:00am to 5:00pm on Saturday and from 9:00am to 4:00pm on Sunday. Onsite parking is available, and the venue is conveniently located at 1 Racecourse Road, Clarendon. For those travelling by public transport, it’ s just a short walk from Clarendon Railway Station on the T1 / T5 lines from Blacktown or Richmond.
The exhibition will be spread across two function rooms, showcasing a diverse array of model railway layouts in various scales and designs. Displays will include
contributions from local and regional clubs, as well as privately owned layouts. The Rails in the Garden club will also feature their impressive large-scale livesteam locomotives, complete with rolling stock, delighting visitors as they chuff along the tracks.
A selection of local model railway retailers will be on hand, offering trains and accessories for sale, along with expert advice for those looking to start or expand their own layouts. Four local hobby shops have generously sponsored the ever-popular raffle, featuring six outstanding prizes of locomotives and rolling stock to be drawn on Sunday afternoon.
On display will be model railways representing Australian, American, British, Asian and European prototypes, across the three most popular scales – HO, OO and N. Club members are always keen to chat with visitors and share their enthusiasm and knowledge, whether you’ re a beginner or an experienced modeller looking to enhance your layout.
Members of the model railway clubs possess a wealth of expertise in layout design, construction, electrical systems, computerisation and landscaping. This year’ s exhibition will include conventional controls, wireless handheld remote systems, and mobile phone / tablet-operated layouts. For those keen
to develop technical or computing skills, joining a model railway club is a rewarding place to start.
The Hawkesbury Race Club provides excellent amenities, including a canteen offering hot food and drinks, a barista bar with a selection of beverages, and a comfortable seating area for relaxing and socialising.
