LEST WE FORGET . REMEMBRAN with Susan Templeman MP

On Remembrance Day , at 11am of the 11th day of the 11th month , we mark the end of the First World War and remember all those who died or suffered defending Australia in wars and conflicts .
Like so many people , I remember my grandfathers , both of whom served in WW1 . The Hawkesbury has a proud history of service and sacrifice and on this Remembrance Day the community of Windsor will be able to mark the sacrifice of those who served at a new permanent cenotaph at McQuade Park .
For many years , Windsor RSL Sub-Branch have erected a temporary memorial in the park to cater for the gratifying of large crowds that now pay their respect at services , including the Anzac Dawn Service .
The Sub-Branch has worked for years to secure the funds and get permission to have a permanent monument . It is a testament to their determination that a permanent structure has now been built . I was proud to support their project , and all levels of government have worked together . As part of the Federal Government ’ s “ Saluting Their Service Commemorative Grants Program ”, the Windsor RSL Sub-Branch received $ 53,669 towards the construction at the State-owned , Council-managed , McQuade Park .
There will still be hours of work for RSL Sub-Branch members to hold the service , but this will hopefully ease that load .
The Australian Government is committed to recognising and commemorating all Veterans and their families , both past and present , and I extend my gratitude to all Defence Force members in our community and their families for what they do .
We must never forget the sacrifices of those who serve , nor the Australians who made the ultimate sacrifice protecting and defending our country . Lest we forget .
