IT IS TIME TO UPGRADE WINDSOR !
IT IS TIME TO UPGRADE WINDSOR !
Exciting times are ahead for Windsor , as the highly anticipated works to improve the visual amenity of our beautiful town have now begun .
Stage 1 of the Windsor Town Centre Revitalisation Project starts at Windsor Train Station and proceeds up to the Mall . During these works , street trees will be planted and new paving along various old and tired footpaths will take place .
The species of carefully selected trees include Brush Box , Crepe Myrtle and Weeping Lily Pilly , which will increase shade and vastly improve the look and feel of George Street . Existing pedestrian crossings between Tebbutt and Fitzgerald Streets will also be upgraded .
Careful consideration has been given to minimise the loss of car parking and it is anticipated that this stage of works will be complete by early 2025 ( weather permitting ).
Once finished , the additional stages involving Windsor Mall and George Street up to Thompson Square will begin . Public feedback has been gathered and further details on those designs will be released later this year .
One of the most wonderful aspects of the works to take place in the Mall , involve Council ’ s recent decision to retain the gas lamps . Having just celebrated the inaugural June long weekend Gas Lamp Festival , created by The Windsor Experience Group and sponsored by Hawkesbury City Council , it was evident that they will be a drawcard for locals and visitors to our region .
Funding for this project was sourced through all three levels of government , under Western Parkland City Liveability , through the Western Sydney City Deal . More information on the project can be found here on Council ’ s website : www . hawkesbury . nsw . gov . au / for-residents / currentprojects / liveability-projects .
We thank you for your patience and understanding during the construction period and look forward to a beautifully improved Windsor that we can all be proud of and enjoy .
