Richmond Lions Club announces winter
sleepout to support Jarron Project
The Lions Club of Richmond is thrilled to announce its upcoming winter sleepout , taking place on Saturday , July 27 , 2024 , at 7:00pm at Richmond Oval . The Lions have sent an open invitation to the entire Hawkesbury community to join in this event , either by participating in the sleepout or by coming down to show your support .
This year ’ s sleepout aims to raise $ 5,000 for the Jarron Project , a vital initiative of the Jarron Project - Hope4You Foundation . The project plays a crucial role in our community by providing essential mental health counselling , grief counselling , and support for those affected by domestic violence . Your participation and support can significantly impact the lives of those who need it most in the Hawkesbury area .
In an extraordinary show of commitment , Richmond Lions Club President Scott Hinks and Lion member Warren Doyle have pledged to forgo a sleeping bag or a tent if any individual or business donates $ 2,500 . This bold gesture aims to raise awareness about the hardships faced by those in our community who lack proper shelter and support .
Mr Hinks , recently appointed as the inaugural Chairman of Hope4You Foundation and the Jarron Project , along with Mr Doyle as the Vice Chairman , emphasised the unique opportunity to highlight the need for essential mental health programs through the Richmond Lions Club sleepout .
“ Being a part of two great community organisations provides such a unique opportunity to highlight the need for essential mental health programs and be involved in actively making a difference by participating in the Richmond Lions Club sleepout ,” said Mr Hinks .
Business leaders and individuals from the Hawkesbury region are encouraged to join the sleepout . Bring a sleeping bag and experience a night under the stars with fellow community members . This experience will not only raise funds but also foster a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by those in need .
If sleeping out isn ’ t for you then , “ Donations of any amount are greatly appreciated ,” said Mr Doyle .
