Richmond bowlers celebrate 75 th birthday

Getting to 75 years of age always calls for a celebration , and that ’ s exactly what Richmond Memorial Bowling Club members will be doing !
On Saturday , May 18 , the club , one of the founding members of the Nepean District Bowling Association back on that date in 1949 , will celebrate the occasion with a scrumptious lunch at headquarters , the Richmond Club .
Highlight of course will be the cutting of a giant , and sure-to-be mouth-watering , birthday cake !
On hand to celebrate the occasions will be a host of guests including Hawkesbury City Mayor , Sarah Richards , State Member for Hawkesbury , Robyn Preston and Federal Member for Macquarie , Susan Templeman .

“ Also on the invitation list are representatives from other local clubs , Nepean District Bowling Association and Bowls NSW ,” said the club ’ s honorary secretary , the delightful Peta Smith .
“ All our members are really looking forward to sharing in the celebrations which include a members-only bowls tournament on our green on May 16 .
“ Prior to the bowls on that day , all our members will assemble for a photo in front of colourful bowls , arranged to form the number 75 .”
Bowls was first played at the club in 1949 with the formation of the Richmond Memorial Men ’ s Bowling Club followed in 1957 when the Richmond Memorial Women ’ s Bowling Club was founded .
The two clubs operated separately until combining forces in 2020 to form the Richmond Memorial Bowling Club .
