Windsor ’ s art beautification

by Greg Martin
We all love “ painting the town red ” – getting out and about and having a good old time .
Well , two very talented artists aren ’ t slip-slopslapping red paint around the town , but their artistic skills are certainly adding to the beauty of historic Windsor .
Local muralist Cameron Marbus of Aerosol Obsessions , and Botany decorative artist and designer , Will Lynes , have worked their magic on separate tasks .
Cameron ’ s piece de resistance is a giant mural on the towering pumping station on The Terrace , while Will worked his magic on a huge wall on premises formerly occupied by Cooks Plumbing , on the corner of the mall and Baker Street . Windsor Rotary first mooted the mural makeover in late 2020 and was given the green light to proceed last June by Sydney Water after negotiations started in January 2021 .
The Rotarians tasked Cameron to complete the mammoth job but the skills of Cameron didn ’ t come cheap , and neither did the multitude of cans of paint .
So , members worked long and had to raise around $ 25,000 to have the task completed .
Not only did the Rotarians raise the funds they also got their hands dirty , cleaning and preparing the huge surface to enable Cameron to commence swishing
Will Lynes puts the finishing touches to his work of art . It is an advertisement for a 19th Century local horse and coach company . away with his brushes .
Will Lynes specialises in traditional hand-painted signwriting , murals , decorative glass art , and a variety of decorative painted finishes - his services have long been in demand by a multitude of clients .
He was commissioned to complete the task by the Windsor Experience Action Group ( WEAG ).
Will ’ s art sits adjacent to a giant mural depicting the WEAG logo which was painted last June by Bella Bonazza , ably assisted by Kerryn Mattioli .
Artists like Will also do not come cheap – and rightly so – so the Windsor Experience Action Group went about raising $ 12,250 to secure his undoubted talents .
Also aiding and abetting the huge facelift were the good folk at Hawkesbury Forklifts who provided the equipment for Will Lynes to safely work on the mural .
Windsor Rotarians and members of WEAG , we salute you !
Talk about turning a kissing a frog and turning it into a handsome prince ! Windsor Rotarians , headed by Don Hartas , raised funds to enable noted local artist , Cameron Marbus , to work his magic on giving the old Windsor water pumping station a colourful facelift . Photo : Kathryn Johnston .
