The Wolves left their den at Windsor Leagues Club for the larger function room at club sponsors , Richmond Club , such was the uptake in acceptances for the 2023 Junior Rugby League Senior Presentation evening on October 19 .
A wonderful night was had by all in attendance – Under 19s , A Grade Seconds and A Grade Firsts players their family members , Wolves sponsors and officials .
Triple MMM radio sports announcer , the Master of Ceremonies to the Stars , Anthony Maroon , did a terrific job , following Wolves licensed club general manager , Larry Collins to the microphone .
Larry warmly welcomed players and guests , thanking the footballers , the supporters and sponsors for their attendance and promising them a night to remember .
And it sure was , especially for the footballers who were recipients of player awards .
The big winner on the night was exciting Under 19s fullback , Nick Murphy , who nicked off with two trophies – the Under 19s Best and Fairest as well as the evening ’ s major prize , the Ray Robinson Perpetual Trophy which is awarded to the
Sunday International Player of the Year .
Nick is a true excitement machine – fearless under the high ball , elusive and lightning quick with ball in hand .
Ray Robinson is a Windsor Wolves legend and has given tremendous service to his beloved club as a player and in more recent years , as the ground curator and jack of all trades .
During his playing days through juniors to A Grade , Ray established himself as a topflight footballer .
Such were his talents as a robust and skillful backrower , he was named as one of four reserves in the Windsor Wolves Team of the Century . Award winners Under 19s Division 1 : Best back : James Fernando , Best forwards : Ahmani Leilia , Coach ’ s Award : Brock Tutton . Players Player : Kobi Walsh . Best and Fairest : Mick Murphy .
