THE RETURN OF A HAWKESBURY ICON
THE RETURN OF A HAWKESBURY ICON
On November 18 , a significant event will be happening at Windsor Wharf on our beautiful Hawkesbury River – the return of the majestic Hawkesbury Paddlewheeler !
For owner Ian Burns , this has been a long time coming . With numerous floods over the last few years , so much damage had been done to this wonderful vessel , that it required relocation downstream for urgent repairs .
In addition , due to large sand deposits that changed the course of the river , it was difficult to bring it back to its home … until now .
The gala day planned in coming weeks will celebrate the Hawkesbury Paddlewheeler returning to where it belongs , nestled beside the Windsor Bridge . It will again start to be used for private events and charters , bringing joy to so many people who wish to host their event on this special boat . It is also important to draw tourists to our area , who come to our lovely Hawkesbury to experience the wonder of a journey on board .
As we all know , the floods hit so many local residents and small business owners in many difficult ways . However , for Ian deriving his income from a business that relies on the river , it has been additionally challenging . Thankfully , the heartbreak and despair will be no more and the whole community is invited to join in the fun and acknowledge this very joyous occasion .
So please mark November 18 in your diary , as the Windsor Experience Group will host the event from 7am – 3pm . There will be live entertainment , food and drinks and you are more than welcome to come and say hello to Captain Ian personally . I will also be joining in on the day , as well as paying an official tribute to Ian for all of his hard work to make this happen .
Let the celebrations begin !
