Off the top ropes with All Star Wrestling Australia with Matt “ Duck Man ” Austin
Back in the 80s and 90s every kid used to love switching to Channel 10 on a Saturday morning to watch the good old Rock n Roll Wrestling with Hulk Hogan , Andre the Giant , King Kong Bundy and the Ultimate Warrior ; the list goes on . I can even remember the very first WrestleMania back at Madison Square Gardens in 1985 .
WWE then came through and we see wrestling superstars now such as Dwayne ‘ the Rock ’ Johnson , John Cena , Brock Lesnar , The Big Show , Ryback , Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns . WWE is huge and just recently had a global merger with UFC . In Australia , the wrestling scene is big too . The guys from All Star Wrestling Australia were invited to come out to Collector Con 2023 and show their stuff , and they absolutely did not disappoint .
At 10am they put on two very entertaining singles matches between Hell Yeah and ‘ Dancin ’ Dave Walters . Hell Yeah with his Randy the Macho Man Savage and Kid Love look and glasses along with spectacular hair and outfit was too good in the first match and pinned Dancin Dave .
In the second match Keegan Brettle defeated the Puppeteer . Keegan is a veteran of the wrestling scene having been around for 10 years . He has toured America , Canada , Europe and recently Japan . He has a world class mullet , pecs of steel and even rides out on a Razer scooter which gets the crowd pumping . He won his match against the Puppeteer and put on a great show for the crowd .
In the third singles match for the All Stars Wrestling Eastern States Championship , Aries defeated Red Scorpion who is an absolute beast in the ring and absolutely got stuck into the crowd with sledging and banter flying thick and fast .
He came up into the crowd and there was a rumble with Aries that had the crowd on the edge of their seats before both wrestlers resumed their positions in the ring to the delight of the screaming fans . Aries got the win by pinfall over Red
Red Scorpion bringing Aries into the crowd .
Scorpion which delighted the crowd to retain his championship belt .
They were flying off the top rope , doing somersaults onto their opponents , throwing big roundhouse kicks and dropping suplex bombs on their opponents . It was the best experience for a fan who loves wrestling .
After the matches I was lucky enough to catch up with two of the crowd favourites , Keegan Brettle and Hell Yeah who gave me a good run down of how they got involved in wrestling and told me a fair bit about their careers and the great events that they have on .
They told me that they only had an event the night before at Padstow RSL , their home venue , and had former WWE Superstar Orlando Jordan who came here to fight for main event and championship matches .
And there are plenty of competitors worthy of the challenge such as Aries , Keegan Brettle , Bee Boy , Jay Law and Robbie Eagles .
If you want entertainment , there isn ’ t anything more fun than watch some big guys hook into each other in the ring pulling off stunts and moves that are not for the faint hearted .
Barrier Rise with
TONY BRASSEL
BANGER couldn ’ t have been more impressive in easily winning a 900m trial at Wodonga on September 19 . Just toyed with rivals despite running smart time . Keep an eye out for him in the bush or when he comes to town .
CALL ME SUPER is another bush galloper , trained at Coffs Harbour by Trevor Whittington . Unraced 3YO filly by Super One which showed pace and plenty of fight to win 805m trial on home track on September 18 .
REVOLUTIONARY MISS and GHAANATI were most impressive in fighting out the finish of a 1030m trial at Rosehill on Sept 19 . Both have plenty of ability and are ready to go early in their preparations .
CABOCHE was never off the bit in finishing 6th behind the above
gallopers in their trial . Will need a run or two but watch out for him when he gets over a bit of distance .
FACILE is a classy youngster and ready to strike first-up going on her easy 2nd in a 900m hit-out at Rosehill on Sept 19 . She ’ s still a maiden but that will be rectified this time in .
