Barber ’ s 1833 Vintage Cheddar
The Barber family have been making cheddar since 1833 , which makes them the oldest cheese making family in England and one of the oldest cheddar producers in the world .
The Barber family are the sole guardians of the last traditional pint starter culture . This pint starter culture comes from the local area in the south west of England , meaning you have a cheddar that is made in the home of cheddar with a culture that has been developed in the local area , it does not get more original than that ! This attention to detail is the secret that drives the Barber family to make the best cheese ; and is unrivalled by any other producer in the world .
Barber ’ s 1833 Farmhouse Cheddar is made on Maryland Farm in Ditcheat , Somerset , only 13 miles from the village of Cheddar itself and protected under the PDO certification . Barber ’ s 1833 Vintage Reserve has a creamy texture and smooth finish , containing naturally occurring crystals that give it a distinctive crunch . Refined sweet notes balance out its tangy sharpness . A truly beautiful English Cheddar you must try .

BUTTERNUT This very popular variety has sweet , nutty bright-orange flesh and creamy firm skin . Experiment beyond soup . Add butternut pumpkin to spicy curries , pasta , Middle Eastern-inspired meat or rice dishes , and casseroles . If roasting , leave the skin on because it has a pleasant flavour . It ’ s the best all-rounder pumpkin and excellent for soup , mashing and roasting . JAP Deliciously nutty-flavoured , this small pumpkin with mottled green and orange skin is easy to peel . Kids love the sweet flesh . The tender Jap pumpkin is delicious roasted . Leave the skin on when roasting because it helps the pumpkin retain shape . JARRAHDALE The Jarrahdale is a large pumpkin with thick ribbed blue-greyish skin and deep golden-orange flesh . It is ideal for soups and roasting . Add a dash of nutmeg and parmesan to Jarrahdale pumpkin mash .
