Community-minded Pitt Town Sporties

Pitt Town and District Sports Club is not resting on its laurels , it ’ s moving ahead in leaps and bounds with a variety of projects to provide the community with the best sports and entertainment facilities .
“ It ’ s such a beautiful location and a great club , which we ’ re giving a lot of TLC to ,” General Manager Earl Moran told the Independent last month .
Heading up the club for the past 12 months , Earl said the industry is starting to bounce back and referenced the success of their recent ANZAC Day events and activities which “ definitely topped last year ’ s ” event by far .
“ It was such a great day here , we had a fantastic turnout , a local band , Two-Up til late and what about the weather – it was perfect , it all turned right for us ,” he said .
The club prides itself on supporting local sports , particularly juniors and engaging with the local community at every chance it gets .

looking at ways to change how the club operates to support charities , our local RFS and community groups ,” he said .
A former rugby player with Newport , Earl lives and breathes his sport and brings with him a wealth of club experience having been general manager of Pittwater RSL in Mona Vale . The Glenmore Park resident loves living local and working local – even though he began his tenure at Pitt Town during ‘ trial by multiple floods ’.
“ I signed on at Pitt Town right during the floods … cars were going off the road sinking … it was a very busy year and good to see how clubs are such a part of helping this community ,” he said . The club ’ s new children ’ s playground ,
officially opened by Mayor Sarah McMahon last month at a superhero inspired party , is one of its latest improvement works that ’ s been deemed a winner by families .
Wonder Woman and Spiderman made appearances , with face painting provided by Hawkesbury Party Painters , balloon artists and a delicious fundraising barbecue manned by the Pitt Town Progress Association .

“ The new playground has all state-ofthe-art equipment and umbrella tables – it ’ s a great space for families to enjoy ,” Earl said .
“ We ’ re starting up our mums and bubs group and will hold many kids ’ events in the area down the track as we continue renovations throughout the club .
“ For the King ’ s Birthday Long Weekend we ’ re having fireworks , plenty of kids ’ entertainment and our bistro will be serving up a storm .”
The self-confessed camera-shy GM is more than proud of his staff and management , and is inspired by the

board ’ s focus on community work .
“ I ’ m here to keep the place open and running … they do all the hard work , so you won ’ t often find me in the pictures ,” a modest Earl said .
Pitt Town and District Sports Club is introducing Mums and Bubs time , every Wednesday in May from 11am to 1pm in the new children ’ s playground . There ’ s facepainting and surprises in store .
