LOCAL LIFE the Walker family
know , each Saturday night before a home game , mum would be cooking up a storm and the next morning all members of the family were loaded up with the food to take onto the hill ,” Chris laughed .
“ Anyone within coo-ee of the Walker patch of grass was invited to share in the meal – mum was an absolute marvel and a real crowd favourite .
“ Dad also played his part and became a virtual head cheerleader .
“ I was a left foot kicker , and I tell you , every time I lined up for a pot at goal , Dad would bellow , “ kick it Leftie , kick it ” and it wasn ’ t long before every Windsor supporter around the ground was bellowing the same .”
In 1975 , Josie and Bob moved their family into their own home in Meehan Street , Windsor - the first real home they ever had in their lifetimes .
Bob Walker passed away in 1989 , his beloved wife went to rejoin him 12 years later – Josie had lived in her own home in Richmond with youngest daughter , Sarah , who sadly also passed away in 2004 .
In 1976 Chris and Pam , a Rooty Hill girl , married and settled in Macquarie Street , Windsor .
The family grew quickly with Chris and Pam becoming parents to Brooke , Todd , Jai and Bianca who in turn provided their parents with seven doted-upon grandchildren . But wait , there ’ s more ! Pam had so much love to give to children that with her husband ’ s blessing and full support , over the past 27 years they have fostered well over 200 youngsters !
Let ’ s have a quick gander at the footy careers forged by the Walkers with the Wolves .
Cody Walker linked with the Wolves in 2011 where he played alongside his brother , Ryan , in Windsor ’ s NSW Cup side before going on to become a star in the National Rugby League .
Chris is a proud Life Member of the Windsor Wolves due to his long service to the club as an elite and electrifying player , coach and whole-hearted supporter .
In 2008 he was selected as fullback in the Wolves Team of the Century .
Graham Walker commenced his career on the left wing in A grade in 1977 and remained a Wolf for three seasons .
He was a real flier and Penrith Panthers were keen for him to link with them , but Graham preferred to play footy alongside big brother Chris and young brother , Bernie .
Bernie , a skilful halfback , began his Wolves career in 1977 and played alongside Chris until both hung up their Wolves footy boots in 1985 .
Dallas played juniors with the Wolves playing in the same sides as Gary Longhurst .
Charlie was the youngest who only played a handful of games with the Wolves .
Bernie ’ s son Ryan was a classy centre in the Windsor Wolves NSW Wales Cup from 2009 to 2012 – such were his talents he had a stint with Penrith Panthers , playing two games in the top grade in 2010 .
The king and queen of the hill – Walker matriarch and patriarch , Josie and Bob Walker .
