by Greg Martin
Members of Richmond Veterans Golf Club will be out to exceed a major milestone when they conduct the club ’ s annual Legacy Fundraising tournament on their home course on Monday , May 15 . This year , Legacy celebrates its centenary of providing much needed support to partners and the children of those servicemen and women who gave their lives or health for our country .
“ Six major sponsors have come on board this year and we will have a full field of golfers , all of whom are determined to raise in excess of $ 20,000 on this occasion for Legacy ,” said Richmond Vets go-toman , Ken Powell .
“ Last year we raised $ 12,300 but with the wonderful response we have already received from our community , that amount well be well exceeded in this , Legacy ’ s centenary year .”
That $ 20,000 will ensure that major milestone will be passed !
Richmond Vets have been organising Legacy Fundraising Golf Days for getting onto 50 years , and 20,000 smackeroos will take the total amount raised to over $ 300,000 !
“ Coming on board with $ 15,000 in cash and prizes are our major sponsorships , Mega Cash , Richmond Club , Bendigo Bank , R . M . Williams , Meyer Timbers Penrith and GNM Industries South Windsor ,” he said .

“ Mega Cash , which operates seven pawnbroking and secondhand goods stores across western Sydney , is putting up the big money for one lucky – and should I say , skillful – golfer to collect in being the first to score a hole-in-one ,” Ken said .
“ Mega Cash has been a great advocate of this event for the past five years and I cannot thank them enough for their wholehearted support .”
