It ’ s that time of year when families prepare for the wonders and joy of Christmas . Children everywhere excitedly writing to Santa and hoping they receive their desired gifts under the tree .
Sadly , 2022 has been a tough year for many in our community , and they will be hard pressed to have any special treats this Christmas . COVID has been relentless , and the impacts of cost of living continues to increase . Our community has endured repeated floods , and we see individuals and families struggling to maintain their hope as we approach the end of year .
Riverstone Neighbourhood Centre have been supporting many individuals and families throughout the year . This was made possible because of the generosity of spirit of our community . We had amazing people donate their labour to help with flood clean ups , we had volunteers helping to pick up and deliver furniture plus an amazing group of volunteers working with our team to run the flood pop up shop .
We also had amazing donations from local business , faith based groups , sports groups , schools , charity

groups and many individuals , giving goods that are needed by our most vulnerable . This included food , clothing , furniture , whitegoods , electrical goods , school items , baby goods and much more !
It has been a humbling experience to see the level of giving and receiving in our community this year . People that have been helped have returned to give back , either with volunteering or donating items . Our community epitomises the spirit of Christmas all year long , and for that we say “ Thank You ”!
The last year has been big in giving , but also big in the level of need . We are running our Dollars For Dignity fundraising event , to help cover the unique support people need when confronted with crisis . If you can support us , please give , by using your smart phone and the QR code to make a donation . We are a registered charity with DGR status and all donations over $ 2 are tax deductible . The smallest donation on its own has limited impact , but when all the small donations come together , as a collective , we can make a big difference !
