Cricket dreams come true !

A dream finally came true for local primary school children with special needs when the much-anticipated Dream Cricket Day at Richmond Oval was given the go ahead after a two-year break due to COVID-19 .
The programme was first initiated by Disorder Foundation and established by the Rotary Clubs of the Southern Highlands .
Hawkesbury Rotary clubs have been involved since 2014 .
This year numbers were down , however , the children still had fun practicing their cricket skills at five different stations throwing cricket balls , batting , bowling and catching .
Forty children attended from Hobartville , Richmond and Kuyper schools , which all cater for students with special needs .
The youngsters were assisted by 30 senior Kuyper , Bede Polding and Richmond High school students who enjoyed the day working and socialising with their young charges .
The day was coordinated by Rick
McCarthy , the Dream Cricket Ambassador from Bowral .
Also aiding and abetting on the day were several local police from the local Youth Area Program , together with Hawkesbury PCYC ’ s Senior Constable Brad Martin who was a keen observer of the day ’ s activities .
A good roll-up of Rotarians from all three local Rotary clubs also lent a helping hand throughout the day as well as manning the barbeque ; the children were provided with a sausage sandwich and bottle of water .
On hand to witness the action and get their photos snapped were Hawkesbury Mayor Sarah McMahon , Federal Member for Hawkesbury Susan Templeman and Rotary District 9685 Governor Mina Howard .
Minna had the distinct pleasure at the end of the activities in presenting each student with a Dream Cricket medal .
Yet another great day organised by our Rotarians , so big pats on the back to Paul Barber , Rob Ewin and Phil Tuckerman who devoted their time and expertise in ensuring the day went off without a hitch .

Was under a stranglehold from go to whoa .
NORWEGIAN BLISS is set to retain her unbeaten record - she ’ s sported silks on six occasions – going on most impressive 1000m trial in smart time at Hawkesbury on October 17 .
BRUCKNER and JOJO WAS A MAN finished first and second in fast run 760m trial at H ’ bury on October 17 . The former made all the running and was never off the bit over final stages , as was the runner-up .
CAPPELLETTI made debut with ordinary effort at the Farm in June but indicated vast improvement in winning 760m trial at H ’ bury on October 17 . Showed a good turn of foot and never out of second gear final stages .
