Hawkesbury Showground upgrade
One of the bastions of Sydney ’ s rural life will continue to prosper following a multi-million-dollar NSW Governmentfunded upgrade to the Hawkesbury Showground .
The new multipurpose exhibition pavilion is part of $ 2.67 million in infrastructure improvements to the showground which includes a new multifunctional trade and exhibition pavilion .
The new Hawkesbury Pavilion is well-patronised with shows , including the Golden Retriever Nationals last month in August . These upgrades will
cater for everything from livestock , horse and market events to car shows , trade exhibitions , citizenship ceremonies and even shelter for people and their animals impacted by natural disasters such as bushfires .
The upgrades include the construction of the multi-purpose trade and exhibition pavilion , refurbishment of horse stables , safety fencing for two competition arenas , new fencing for the equestrian competition and exercise arena , upgrade of the main arena ’ s ground announcer boxes and more .
Hawkesbury Showground already attracts over 250,000 visitors a year with the annual show , drawing 60,000 people to enjoy a rural experience on Sydney ’ s urban
fringe , but these upgrades will continue to grow its popularity and viability .
Seniors urged to check for unclaimed money
I encourage seniors living across the Hawkesbury to check for any unclaimed money owed to them by using Revenue NSW ’ s online unclaimed money service . Anyone can check for unclaimed money on the Revenue NSW website . It is a free service offered by the NSW Government to put money back in the hands of its owners . The forgotten money held by Revenue NSW includes share dividends , trust accounts , refunds , commissions , deceased estates and money from a range of other sources . Claiming these extra dollars can
ease the cost of living pressures seniors might be feeling by ensuring they receive what is rightfully theirs , and it is as easy as submitting a claim online .
The Unclaimed Money register is a caretaker account within Revenue NSW for money which has not made it to the correct owner for any number of reasons including a change of address or name , misplaced paperwork or it has simply been forgotten . Revenue NSW periodically carries out data matching activities and attempts to contact potential owners of new items received from enterprises .
Seniors can search for unclaimed money and learn more about the process at www . revenue . nsw . gov . au / unclaimed-money .

Expressions of interest for 2022 Volunteer Grants

Federal Member for Macquarie Susan Templeman with Hawkesbury Combined Probus Club volunteers in 2020 . The club received funding for two laptop computers under the 2019 / 20 Volunteer Grants program .
with Susan Templeman MP
If you ’ re a member of a volunteer organisation , you ’ ll know how difficult it ’ s been to conduct fundraising activities throughout COVID , and in the midst of so many natural disasters in the Hawkesbury .
That means volunteers in some organisations are making do with old equipment , or scraping together money for training , or paying for petrol out of their own pocket .
The good news is that expressions of interest have now opened for 2022 Volunteer Grants in the Hawkesbury and Blue Mountains .
These grants provide between $ 1,000 and $ 5,000 to eligible not-for-profit organisations where
at least 40 per cent of staff are volunteers , to fund things like :
- Eligible small equipment items for use by volunteers ;
- Promoting awareness of and increasing participation in volunteering ;
- Fuel costs incurred by volunteers ;
- Transport costs of volunteers with disability ;
- Training courses and screening checks for volunteers ; and ,
- Adapt practices to support volunteers ’ safety with regard to COVID-19 .
Once an expression of interest is received , it will be reviewed by an independent community consultative panel to determine
which organisations will be nominated to proceed to the next stage – that is , lodging an application to the Department of Social Services .
The expression of interest form must be submitted by 5pm on September 19 . If nominated , groups will need to complete the second part of the process between November 15 to December 5 .
I would urge locals involved in sporting organisations , local clubs and other volunteer groups to have a look at the criteria on my website to see if they are eligible . The grants can provide a modest amount of funding that could make a big difference to local volunteers .
