Injured Mayor thanks community for support
Mayor Patrick Conolly is home from hospital after being stabbed in the arm during a home invasion at his Bligh Park premises on 16 May .
Several men forced their way into the home in the early morning hours and stabbed Mr Conolly . His family were inside at the time and were uninjured . The men fled in the family ’ s car . Police investigations continue .
At the time of going to print , Mr Conolly issued a statement of thanks to the community .
“ Since coming home from hospital I have been overwhelmed by the messages of support from the community - I haven ’ t been able to return every call and message as I ’ m still finding it quite difficult to talk about what ’ s happened , but I am really grateful to everyone who has reached out , it ’ s been a help through a very difficult few days .
“ I will take a few days to focus on making sure my family is ok and will talk to everyone soon .”
Space Camp wins NSW Health Award
Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District ’ s ( NBMLHD ) Space Camp program has won a NSW Health Award for its exceptional contribution to mental health services .
The Child and Youth Mental Health team won the Excellence in the Provision of Mental Health Services category in the 23rd Annual NSW Health Awards .
The Space Camp program is a nine-week school based clinical intervention for children aged 5-9 years with behavioural , social or emotional challenges . It aims to develop a neuroscience evidence-informed early intervention program that supports families and school staff to meet a child ’ s broad developmental needs based upon their unique diversities to

Richmond resident and St John Ambulance Hawkesbury volunteer , Catherine Barber , was honoured at Government House in Sydney at the St John Ambulance Australia ( NSW ) Investiture Ceremony with an Order of St John .
Mrs Barber joined the Hawkesbury Division as a non-clinical member in 2007 and worked to support the community activities at large events . Her efforts in securing grants resulted in an upgrading of the meeting venue , with increased safety and accessibility to the building .
