Septic double-dipping over
Property owners with dual septic systems will no longer be charged two inspection fees simultaneously , thanks to a move by Cr Nathan Zamprogno .
Calling it a “ small win ” for ratepayers , the councillor said dual-septic properties , like dual occupancies , will be billed as one starting the next financial year .
“ I ’ ve been advocating for years that if two systems are on the same property , it isn ’ t fair for council to charge twice when those systems require inspection . In many cases , both systems are owned by the same family ,” Cr Nathan Zamprogno said , while also pushing to have inspections opened up to competition to lower prices .
“ Plenty have complained to me that the inspector arrives and inspects one system , walks 20 metres to inspect the second system , ticks two forms and then bills the owner two $ 160 [ fees ], and that ’ s not fair .”
This “ sensible reform ” can be viewed under Hawkesbury City Council ’ s schedule of fees and charges within its operational plan which is currently on public exhibition .

To acknowledge their work , dedication and selflessness in getting the community back on its feet , council is holding a special Thank You parade and festival on Sunday , 29 May at Governor Phillip Park , Windsor . Parade starts at 11am , festival starts 12.30pm .
