Doctors on the way
Additional general practise ( GP ) doctors can now be recruited following the reclassification of Hawkesbury as a regional area . It ’ s a “ game-changer ” on top of radical telehealth changes , said Federal Liberal candidate for Macquarie Sarah Richards .
“ Rural status means practises may now hire from a bigger pool of doctors , making it easier to bring more GPs to the Hawkesbury . Telehealth and the ability to get e-scripts over the phone has been incredibly helpful for so many locals , but this change , will make it easier to see a GP face-to-face .”
Hawkesbury recorded more than 645,000 GP online and phone consultations since the start of the pandemic . South Windsor doctor Warwick ‘ Doc ’ Mackay welcomed the news , saying locals will have more choice and resources with doctors recruited from a wider range of fields .
Free trees ? You better be-leaf it !
Hawkesbury residents can claim a free tree for their garden thanks to the state government and Bunnings Warehouse this autumn and spring
“ This year ’ s trees include native varieties as well as citrus and flowering trees which will provide shade and privacy for years to come ,” Hawkesbury MP Ms Preston said .
More than 25,000 trees are being offered across 33 council areas as part of the NSW Premier ’ s Priority of Greening our City , which aims to plant one million trees by the end of 2022 .
Applications are online and your local Bunnings store will be in contact when trees are ready to be collected and planted .
